After watching the latest adventures of the Ice Age players we have come to love, I am pleased to report that the franchise is alive and well. 

I have grown weary, however, of donning black framed glasses in order to see movies with 3-D animation.

Now I’m not going to go off on a rant here, but I think Hollywood is adding an unnecessary dimension to the moviegoing experience that we could easily do without. And I resent the extra expense…an additional 15-20 percent in the ticket price…just so the animation can seem a little more lifelike. 

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs once again offers us a loveable cast of characters, a delightful story, and plenty of comic relief. 

It teaches, rather than preaches its lessons and manages to entertain us in pleasing fashion at the same time.  But the 3-D animation did little to enhance my appreciation of the film. See Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs with your kids and grandkids and enjoy.  And now I’ll step down off my soapbox.
