If the holidays are stressing you out, take a deep breath and de-stress yourself.
Check in with your thoughts, acknowledging the stress triggers whether they be money, relationships, loneliness or too many demands on your time.
Learn to say no when you want to. Stay organized with a “to do” list. Prioritize it and don’t worry about it when you run out of time to get to the less important items.
Make sure there’s something enjoyable near the top of that list, and be realistic about how much is possible without burning yourself out.
Think about smiling. Look in the mirror and smile a real heartfelt smile. Breathe deep.
It helps to relax. Take a break to watch something funny on TV, or call a friend who makes you laugh. Laughter truly is one of the best medicines.
If you have digital TV, flip to one of the yoga channels or try any type of stretching. Again, think deep breathing.
Make sure you get enough sleep. Snack on fresh fruits and vegetables.
Surround yourself with pleasant aromas. Clinical aromatherapy is known to have therapeutic properties to relieve stress and anxiety.
Start and end each day by thinking about something for which you are grateful. This is known to help people stay optimistic and energized, even during stressful times.
